GM Vegetarian Diet

All about GM Vegetarian Diet

If you are one of the millions of people from around the world wanting to lose weight, at this point, you are also one of the millions of people out there confused on which diet to follow. Generally speaking, diets are not designed solely for just weight loss. Our pattern of eating and daily food choices and consumption is already diet. The difference is the reason why we get into such diet. This article won’t be discussing further about diet but focus more on General Motor (GM) Vegetarian Diet which has become one of the most sought-after diets lately.

What is a GM Diet?

To avoid any confusion, GM Diet is different from a GM Vegetarian Diet. Basically, a GM Diet all began when General Motors Corporation developed this kind of diet for its employees. Although it is named after the corporation, the diet is not endorsed by the company.

A GM diet is based on a 7-day dietary plan. So basically, a person who undergoes this kind of diet will follow it for 7 consecutive days. Although anyone can follow this diet, it should only be done once in a month or every 2 months because it does not give a balanced diet. For people who want to lose weight in a few days, this diet is very efficient. A GM diet basically includes fruits, starch and beef but because different types of health buffs have come out, a GM vegetarian diet has been made.

What is a GM Vegetarian Diet?

By now you understand that a typical GM Diet entails its dieter to consume meat as it is a part of the dietary plan but because vegetarians also wish to follow this diet, a modified vegetarian version has been made. So basically, a GM vegetarian diet removes meat and meat by-products in its diet and replace with veggies. This diet is not only used by vegans to lose weight but it also serves as a way of maintaining a slim and proportioned figure. A GM vegetarian diet could also be a great way of cleansing the system whereby a person consumes small amounts of meat.

What’s in a GM Vegetarian Diet?

A GM Vegetarian diet is not that different from a typical GM Diet except for the fact that it has no meat. It includes a meal plan daily within the 7-day program. To understand this better, here is a detailed outline of a GM Vegetarian Diet Daily Plan:

Day 1: you may eat all the fruits you like except for bananas

Day 2: unlimited vegetables with a boiled potato for breakfast

Day 3: a combination of fruits and vegetables except for bananas and potatoes

Day 4: bananas, milk, a bowl of vegetable soup

Day 5: potatoes and a protein source (ex.: tofu or lentils)

Day 6: all vegetables and 1 cup of rice

Day 7: fruit juice and vegetables and 1 cup of rice

For sure, you are wondering by now why bananas are exempted in some of the days. The reason for this is because bananas are high in carbohydrates and potassium. In these 7 days, it is important that you drink 10 to 12 glasses of water on the entire day. On the 7th day, you should feel much lighter and look more glowing because you not only lost weight but you also were able to detoxify yourself.

Additional Info

Although 10 glasses of water a day is required, a dieter may also consume other types of drinks such as plain black coffee, black tea and club soda. As for fruit juice, you can only drink it on the final day. Drinking alcohol is definitely a no-no. If at any point of the day during the 7-day program you feel hungry, you can definitely grab a GM soup. To make one, you will need:

  • 28 oz. water
  • 6 large onions
  • 2 green peppers
  • fresh or canned whole tomatoes
  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 4 envelopes of Lipton onion soup mix

Are there any preparations involved before starting a GM Vegetarian Diet?

Actually, there is. These preparations will not only help you ready yourself for the diet but also set your body and mind for a change it is about to undergo. Prior to your GM vegetarian diet, these preparations to be done are as follows:

  • Refrain from drinking alcoholic drinks.

When we take in alcohol our body’s uric acid increases and this could cause water retention and block the natural detoxification process to happen during the 7-day dietary program.

  • Drink at least 10 glasses of water each day.

You may notice how much this is emphasized throughout the article. The reason behind this is because since a dieter during the 7-day plan won’t be able to consume the needed carbohydrates of the body, the main source of energy in a day will be water. Metabolic process is also sped up thus shedding pounds naturally.

  • You may keep doing this diet as often as you like but have a 2-3 day interval before starting again.

An interval is needed in order for the body to adapt to the changes taking place with the new nutritional system.

  • If you really can’t help from drinking alcohol, be sure to limit yourself to 2 glasses of white wine, champagne or beer during the 7 day program. Keep away from hard liquor such as rum, vodka, whisky, etc.

What are the benefits of a GM Vegetarian Diet?

Obviously, a GM Vegetarian diet is a very easy dietary plan that anyone can follow. Not only is it cost-effective and all you need is a 7-day daily guide to what you will be eating for the entire program. The foods you will need can be easily found at markets and grocery stores. Perhaps a great benefit of following this is that the dieter can yield quick results to losing weight. You can forget about complicated calculations and terms when doing this type of diet.

What is the downside of following GM Vegetarian Diet?

Like any diet, there is always a downside to it. There is no such thing as a “perfect diet”. There will always be risks involved most especially if a dieter is not cautious of what he/she is doing that is why it is essential that before you start the GM vegetarian diet, you know what it is for and what it will do for the body. One of the main drawbacks of a GM vegetarian diet is the lack of nutritional value because it is not balanced since not all food groups are included resulting to not meeting the recommended daily value we nutritionally need. After this diet, a person may end up gaining weight because this diet radically cuts out calories causing slow metabolism and when this happens, a person can undergo weight gain when eating calories again.

Before you start your GM vegetarian diet, you may want to consult your doctor for including this in your weight loss plan. Should you start doing the diet and experience a feeling of discomfort or pain, fatigue or anything unusual, immediately stop the plan and see a doctor. The GM vegetarian diet  is not the ideal diet for long-term settings. As much as you want to lose weight and maintain it, better seek a diet together with your nutritionist to find out which one you can follow and healthily stick to for a matter of time. A GM vegetarian diet is for weight loss but if you feel that after the 7-day program you only end up gaining weight again, then it might not be the diet for you. Whichever diet you prefer to choose for your weight loss, be sure to accompany it with exercise.
