Exercises for seniors can bring them so many benefits. Exercising brings about numerous health benefits most especially for the seniors. Growing old imposes risks on the health which are commonly muscle injury, heart problems and other health ailments. It has been proven and tested that exercise optimizes senior health. We are well aware that as we get older, our strength deteriorates which explains why seniors have a different exercise regimen which is less strenuous. Walking/Hiking

    Every physician would very much recommend walking as perhaps one of the best exercises for seniors. The low to moderate cardiovascular level activity is good for the heart plus, a breath of fresh air is an added benefit to this activity. Hiking freely on quiet afternoons around the neighborhood park or early morning by the beach makes it seem not an exercises but rather an enjoyable past time. Doing this each day for about 30 minutes is really good for the senior health plus you can do this together with your loved ones.

    Swimming

      Swimming is said to be one of the easiest exercise yet is a full body workout making it another ideal exercise for the elderly. As we age, our joints and muscles should be well taken care of and this exercise does this as it makes the core muscles stronger plus it allows arm and legs to have a balanced work out. For seniors suffering from joint pain, a low impact swimming may be done. There are also training programs that the elderly may get into to help them with their back problems.

      Bicycling

        Another low-impact yet effective exercise regimen is bicycling. This moderate exercise gives a great workout on the legs and gluteal muscles. If you still have a little strength in you, you can go biking on rough terrains which is great for inner core strengthening. The added beautiful view will make this exercise more exciting for you.

        Yoga

          Yoga can be a great exercise for seniors and is an excellent stress reliever as well. It gives a full body workout without being too strenuous. It develops inner core strength as well as strengthening muscles and gives a moderate cardiovascular activity. Apart from these, yoga also helps relieve aches and pains that we all become susceptible to as we get older.

          Tai Chi

            We may notice that Tai Chi is usually done by older Chinese people and is now spread throughout the west too. Tai Chi can be described as calm, serene and slow form of exercise. It is really a great way to sweat off because the slow movements make it more challenging plus doing this helps calm the mind and body too. Tai Chi isn’t just an exercise but is an ancient martial art where meditation is combined with subtle physical movements thus coordination and balance is required.
