Ideal Exercises for Kids are what children need to keep them fit and healthy. Kids are like a bunch of energizer bunnies running and playing for almost the entire day. For sure, some of us wish that we had as much energy as they did. But even if kids are very active, it is still important that we instill in them the importance of staying healthy and start that off with exercise. Today, a growing number of obese kids are on the rise and this is something that people should be alarmed of because it leads to heart diseases and other medical problems in the future and we know for a fact that when we exercise, our bodies reap numerous benefits. 

How much Exercise are Kids Required to Do?

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, children including teens should be physically active for at least 60 minutes each day but this does not necessarily have to be done consecutively in just 60 minutes. Kids walking to school for about 10 minutes can already help, plus the running they do in school, chores they may do at home and just about other things that entail physical activity. Ideal exercises for kids are basically making them involved in physical activities to keep them active.

Warming Up

Ideal exercises for kids should start first with warm-up. Doing Warm Ups before getting into the actual exercise is important and don’t forget to instill this in your kids too. Warming helps a person execute the exercises properly and avoids the risk of injury. Great warm ups are skipping, brisk walking, jogging and some stretching. 

Cooling Down

To end your ideal exercises for kids, cooling down should be taught to them. Cooling down is just as important as warming because this helps the body get into the transition from work out to rest and this greatly helps the muscles and the heart.

Now that you know what to do before and after exercising, we now find out what the ideal exercises for kids are. Exercise can seem so broad but simple things that grown-ups do can also be used by youngsters and here are some of them:

Walking

This is one easy and very inexpensive exercise regimen that you can actually include in your ideal exercises for kids. Instead of taking a ride to school and work, if they happen to be close-by, you can spend early morning walks together or if your kids are old enough to cross the streets, you can let them walk to school along with their friends.

Running

Running may seem more of a regular activity for kids rather than a form of exercise. Kids get really excited to do things with other kids so why not let them get into a friendly running marathon in the neighborhood or do this with their siblings.

Swimming

Kids are definitely big fans of the swimming pool especially during those hot summer days. We have to admit that swimming pools are almost everywhere and there are numerous pool parks that we can go to. If you want, you can enroll your youngsters to swimming classes and make this a regular exercise for them.

Dancing

If you notice that your kids love to dance, why not let them join a dance class. You can also let them watch DVDs that teach dancing for kids if you like. This not only allows them to exercise but it also lets them enhance their talent.

Jogging

There is actually a difference between jogging and running. The best jogging exercise for kids would be jogging and jumping in place (jumping jacks). To make it a little more fun add in some music for them.

Skipping

Kids may think that skipping is more of a game and not an exercise and this is good because it won’t seem as something they are obliged to do. Skipping is more of a girl’s game while boys like rope skipping, but either way, these activities are a great form of exercise for the young ones.

Biking

Biking can be another type of exercise that you can do with your kids. This would really be great if you set a time for your family to head outdoors and bike together. This allows everyone to exercise, have fun and bond together.

Aerobics

This is yet another girl’s activity. Aerobics aren’t just for grown-ups, in fact, there are numerous aerobics classes out there that young girls can sign-up and join. This is really great most especially for kids who are suffering from obesity as this is a perfect work out for them.

Yoga

At an early age, you can let your kids join yoga classes. This may seem new especially for parents who are not into yoga because there are yoga classes out there are meant for kids as early as three years old. This could be an exercise that your kids can bring forth until they grow old.

Sports

Ideal exercises for kids is not about spending for them to get into activities, rather it is about finding ways on how to have a healthy lifestyle for them. Allowing your kids to get into various types of sports is perhaps one of the best ways to not just let them exercise but keep a healthy mind and body. From basketball, to soccer, football and lots more, your kids will learn at an early age the importance of staying fit and having the spirit of sportsmanship plus this could also be a good outlet for them where they can thrive and be confident of themselves. 

As you can see, the exercise aforementioned will be up to you parents on which ones you want your kids to get into and also which ones your kids love to do. Their age, your place and other things may also affect your and their choice of exercise. But what’s important here is that at an early age, you teach your children the importance of exercise and how it can affect their lives as they get older. These ideal exercises for kids will be a good start for them to live a healthy life.
