Aging is something that we cannot avoid but it the negative sides of this process are something that we can fight, anti-aging. One of the uncommon ways of anti-aging is by exercising. As surprising as it may sound, exercise actually has numerous benefits to the human body. We know that exercise is not only recommended to people who want to live a healthy and active lifestyle or for those who wish to lose weight but they can also be beneficial in anti-aging because of the mere fact that it helps in fighting diseases with the use of the major organs of the body such as the heart and the muscles for improved circulation and much more. 

How to Choose the Type of Anti-aging Exercise

As we get older and undergo anti-aging, we will notice that the body starts to weaken and parts of the body will eventually lose its ability to function efficiently such as muscle mass and strength but through exercise, there can be a delay with such negative effects of aging. Muscles contract against the force of gravity thereby increasing muscle mass and strength. So exercises such as weight-bearing or weight-training exercises are said to be effective in increasing bone density as well as avoidance of osteoporosis which is effective in anti-aging. Exercising puts tension on the muscle and the bone which will result to an increased bone density.

Yoga instead of Facial Exercises

More than helping in fighting the negative effects of aging, facial exercises are not really recommended for anti-aging. In fact, a study back in 2011 says that exercising the face has no direct benefit to anti-aging. The reason why our face develops deep lines and wrinkles is because of muscle movement due to our facial expressions. Doing more facial movement of facial exercises will only cause lines to the face. Instead of facial exercises, go for yoga instead because it will help more in relaxing the muscles in the body like the face because of the relaxation techniques involved. 

Anaerobic Exercise

The word anaerobic actually means without oxygen. With anaerobic exercise, it will require intense efforts to do it one example is weight lifting. Basically, an anaerobic exercise helps condition the heart and the blood vessels and it helps in lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke. Other kinds of exercises are sprinting where it releases the human growth hormone and this hormone actually helps lower body fat, increase energy, build muscles and even make the skin firmer thus minimizing wrinkles. Apart from sprints, you may also do weight lifting. 

Eastern Anti-aging Exercises

Eastern exercises are recommended for anti-aging because these kinds of exercises involve yoga, tai chi, martial arts and qigong and each bring about positive effects not only physically but brings peace of mind as well. These eastern anti-aging exercises helps strengthen the muscles, improve on breathing, increase awareness of alignment of the posture, flexibility and range of motion. All these effects help fight aging from posture down to bodily functions as we undergo aging. It also aids in balance thereby lessening the risk of falls which is also dangerous. 

Vigorous Exercise

Not unless contraindicated by your doctor, you may also do vigorous exercises because these kind of exercises help increase blood flow and oxygen to the brain. The effect of this kind of exercise aid in protecting our cognitive abilities as we get older. This kind of exercise will require of you to do continuous movement at a fast pace. Vigorous exercises for anti-aging include bicycling, power walking, aerobic dancing, belly dancing, kickboxing, hiking and many more. These types of workout will condition the heart and lungs which help in maintain bone strength, uplifts mood and improves lung capacity.
