You can always prepare fresh cut carrot sticks or apples for a great snack. Turn things more interesting by including a healthy ranch dressing or yogurt as dip. Make sure that when you give them fruits and veggies as snacks, add in variety to keep them from getting bored.

Whole Grain Foods

Whole grains are excellent choices for healthy snacks for kids because it is rich in fiber and due to the fact that the carbohydrates are burned at a slower pace. There are plenty of whole grain foods out there that come in the form of cereals, biscuits, bread, tortillas, pretzels and lots more. Pair whole grain snacks with peanut butter or tuna to add in protein and flavor too.

Low Fat Dairy

The reason why low fat dairy is preferred rather than the full kind is because they are much healthier as they contain low amounts of saturated fat and cholesterol. Instill in your child the habit of drinking milk and explain to them how healthy it is as it keeps the bones strong. Offer them skim milk which is rich in calcium but of course don’t forget to give foods that are rich in vitamin D for better calcium absorption. Other great low fat dairy snacks are milk and cheese.

Sweets

There are plenty of kids out there that are big fans of sweet foods but the main worry is if these sweet foods can offer those nutrients they need plus eating too much sweets are not good for the teeth. But there are actually healthy snacks for kids out there that will satisfy their cravings for sweets. A great sweet yet healthy snack would be frozen fruit bars, low fat frozen yogurt, home-made fruit smoothies and granola bars. 

It is really important that children are taught about the importance of health and how it can greatly affect them as they get older. This way, they learn to appreciate healthy foods and makes it easier for parents to let them eat them. Preparing for your kids healthy snacks is a great opportunity for you to feed them tasty foods that are healthy.
